replacing water pump with an electric one?
I am wondering if anybody has put an electric pump in to replace the the original belt driven one. Talking to a friend who has a GTO and his car overheating with city driving and is considering installing an electric one. I did a little research and it takes the thermostats out of the system plus eliminates a moving part from the engine. Seems like a win win. But just wondering if this has been done before and what issues it might create.
Thanks in advance for your time'

I got a lot from the related topics and it seems like it's an iffy thing and not necessarily worth the effort and money. Thanks for the info; that is one rabbit hole I don't need to go down and now I'll just refresh the cooling system with a new radiator, hoses, fan and thermostats and enjoy taking care of my new obsession with a smile. That makes people nervous when they don't know why your smiling. Maybe that's just me ha ha.

A bit late as usual..
YEARS ago, dont remember exactly, I was involved by remote control from Adelaide with a guy in Manila with a 1990 Saudi XJS V12.
He wanted an electric water pump, come hell or high water.
Hundreds (probably more) emails, and phone calls later, he had it running and seemed OK.
The cost, never answered, always hung up.
Reliability in Manila traffic, CRAP.
Months later, it was back as the UK made it, and it did what it did without fuss.
WHY a V12 in Manila, never answered that one to any degree.
Last I heard, he sold it to an American Defence guy, returning state side, and he returned to the UK.
