Hi guys, I have a 2003 Vanden Plas with 110,000 miles. I only run synthetic and premium. The car has been running fine but in the past week the "restricted performance" indicator has appeared. I have not noticed any loss of performance. It comes on and goes off. two days ago I drove the car and as usual it ran perfectly. This morning I attempted to start and it hesitated and when it finally fired it shook and stalled. I attempted to start three more times and it fired when I gave it gas. It then ran fine but now there is a noticeable engine knock. No warning lights are on. I have noticed a slight decrease in highway performance. There now appears to be a noisy lifter. 2003 was a model changeover year from the steel bodied X308 to the aluminium bodied X350.
