Tech recommendation
Kittyanne is back. Have been away for a few days.
I want to thank each of you, including the moderator, for your support and suggestions. I am sure it is clear, I am lost when it comes to auto mechanic issues and computer forums.
But, I am learning, slowly, but surely.
My question is, which is recommended for me to take my car, British Auto or Motorcarman?
I mistakenly thought Motorcarman was at British Auto?
Any and all thoughts will be greatly received.

Hi Kittyanne,
I have no experience with either but Bob Gauff (motorcarman) is a long standing member of the forum with recommendations from members who have used his services.
If I lived close enough I think I would visit Bob if I needed help.
I'm going to move this post out of the new members section to a new thread in the general tech area, where more people should see it and respond.

I missed this one, somehow.
My:
Never dealt with British Auto, don't know anything about them. If they are significantly closer to you, you may want to check them out.
I do know Bob and have had him do service and can assure you that you'll never regret having him service your car! Knows Jags front to back and top to bottom.

Jeff Sloan at British Auto (AKA TR sales and service 'back in the day') is a good guy. I have known him for almost 30 years.
I am farther West and North in Decatur, TX. I might be a little cheaper in prices as I have a lower overhead being 'OUT IN THE COUNTRY' (I am in rural Wise County).
Some customers don't mind the inconvenience of driving to my shop if the list of repairs is long enough to warrant leaving the car for several days.
If the repairs are required 'in a hurry' or it is the only car you have then a local repair shop will indeed make more sense.
Just a thought.

Thank all of you so much. I really need all the SOS I can.
I have 2 questions. First, Motorcarman, where is your location exactly? I would like to see just how far away you are from me.
I use to drive through Decatur on the way to Wichita Falls. This was in the early 80's. I have heard nothing but great things about you. So an inconvenience may not be an issue.
Second, all of the sudden my cruise control has stopped working and the red light on the switch comes on and off, but this does not change the not working cruise control. Additionally, the yellow warning light keeps coming on and it says, "Engine Safe Mode" "Check Rear Lights." Rear lights are working fine.
Battery was installed August 2007. This was 22K miles ago.
Again, thank you all for your assistance.
