Default For UK readers, parts, warranties.

Breaking news on BBC2 tv, 12:45pm; 01/06/10.
A new EEC directive provides that a manufacturer MUST provide any service information to any garage/repair station that asks for it. Also, the supply of parts monopoly by some manufacturers is now ended; garages may now obtain these parts directly from the actual part manufacturer, not via the vehicle manufacturer as a restrictive supplier. It was also emphasized that, as is now current practice, no manufacturer can restrict warranty work in any way, meaning that any garage/repair station can do it.
So, it would seem now that all those Jaguar-specific errorcodes and their deletion, together with software updates, will soon be available on cd! Or am I getting ahead of myself here?
Advice on the program was to go to a specialist in your make of vehicle if you didn't approve of the dealer concerned.
The value of out-of-warranty work in UK is reckoned at around £8bn. pa.
