It's the tool Jaguar developed in 2003 to reprogram the RCM (Restraints Control Module).

There was an issue with the deployment time for the side air bag on some X-Types. Jaguar issued a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) to dealers in March 2003 and a recall letter to owners of all affected vehicles. All should have been recalibrated at the time.

This Jaguar 073 tool has no other use.

I knew I had seen it somewhere.

It is to do with the recall setting of airbags etc on mainly X Types.

I have attached the bulletin for info that may clear it up for you and others.

It's a control chip - most likely from an XK8 or X308 ECM.

I am almost sure that they are for S676 (service action #676) or maybe one of the others??? in 1997 or so for the X300 sedans. There were several PROM kits for various maladies in the engine management.

The R493 superseded all the previous PROM replacements so the 'chip kit' you have is useless. All the later PROM kits have LNAxxxxxx and LNBxxxxxx part numbers, NOT JLMxxxxx.
