where to buy/rent/borrow tools in canada for timing chains
Hi. I have a 1999 XJ8, a super car that needs the secondary chain tensioners replaced. Does anybody know where to buy, bum, beg, borrow or steal tools to do the job?
Also, I have heard there is a way to replace the tensioners without the requiste tools. Any ideas?

I know this is post a little stale, so am not sure where you are at on the job.
I did the primary & secondary tensioner replacement on my 98 a few years back and made up all the tools required from pieces of scrap plate I had on hand & only used a grinder, drill press and reciprocating saw to manufacture them.
They worked fine and only took an hour or 2 to make - cheap and cheerful.
I did a writeup on the job at the time for other forum members and can it dig it up (plus some photo's of the tools) if you are still at the work in progress stage & send them to you or post them if that would help.
ps - glad to see you have seen the light & are moving to paradise. I once lived in Newmarket but that was a few years back & the Island is much nicer (IMO)
