Default XE and XF 2017, which VCI should I get?

Hi there,

I'm looking for a VCI to clear DTCs, the MIL and programme keys on a XE 2017 (17 plate) and XF 2017 (67 plate) car.

I asked this question on another forum and was advised I needed the official Jag DOIP VCI which is made by Bosch and is compatible with Pathfinder.

I did some reading on the subject and found that the Bosch unit may only be required for 2017 plate Landrovers as it states that those models not listed will continue to use the current diagnostic system:

Evoque (L538)
Discovery Sport (L550)
Range Rover (L405)
Range Rover Sport (L494)

Pre-14MY and vehicles not detailed above will continue to use the current diagnostic system and VCIs.
I know the Bosch unit will work with the XE and XF 2017 model, but it's quite expensive, and I found the following link which suggests a device called a VCX VCI Nano (2017 Land Rover solution: JLR DOIP VCI with Pathfinder or VXDIAG VCX NANO JLR? | OBDII365.com Official Blog) supports the 2017 models when used with SDD.

I'm not sure if SDD would have any limitations over Pathfinder? I wish to use the device to clear DTCs, MIL lights and programme keys if possible?

Can anyone advise if either the VCX VCI Nano or a Mongoose cable would be compatible with the models mentioned? Or is there a better VCI choice for use with SDD or Pathfinder?

Thank you,

James

5 years and the only reply I get is from a bot. Sounds about right for this place.

The problem is NOBODY uses Pathfinder!
We can't as Jaguar has it all locked up now.
How are you getting access and if you are what does it cost?

I know I have a full Pathfinder install and without connecting 100% of the time to Jaguar servers it's a useless program?
