Hi all

I am having a major problem with my xf 2014 2.2, the steering lock seems to be getting stuck randomly. One day it will be fine and dis engage when I press the start button the next day im having to bash the wheel from side to side until eventually the start button unlocks it. A dealer is telling me I need a new steering lock and trying to charge me a grand! I think he is trying to do me. He made no effort to examine the steering lock. Surely there is a way to find out why it is doing it randomly. I have jlr sdd. But can find no errors. Is there anyway I can disable the steering lock from sdd or does anyone have any advice on how to find the cause of this issue because I do not have a grand for a new steering lock.

We did not get the locking steering wheel in the US so we have no experience with it. You did not post where your from so it's a guess?
