Default Steering lock

Hi all.
I'm replacing the complete steering column 1995 xjs. I can see how to swop the lock and my question is about the transponder.
Do i need to change that part as well, or will the system recognize the new 1.

Thanks

AFAIK, transponder vehicles were a Germany only option. At least that's what the parts manual says. Not heard of any in the US.

I think the later models have it. The ignition barrel has what looks like a coil on it called a keylock solenoid with 2 wires that go to a plug on the harness.
What does that do ? Part 4

That prevents taking the key out unless the transmission is in park.I also have a '95. No immobilizer on it.

Not sure. You might be able to just leave it off.
