Default Does my car have a steering column lock?

In my 06STR I can turn the steering wheel whether the keys in it or not. When I run SDD it’s says it can’t communicate with the steering column locking module so that also makes me think that I don’t have one. But it seems weird to me that in an American car that I can turn the wheel Without the key in it or turned on. So do I have a steering column lock or not?

Sounds most odd. I thought they all had steering column locks!

I just figured it was the law. I figured there had to be some sort of disastrous situation that occurred which necessitated a law to be written that required ignition locks and steering locks in all vehicles

thank Man! Still think it’s weird not having a steering column lock! Now I have to figure out why I don’t have any beaks chains or tones from my instrument panel

As far as i have found, when sdd shows a question mark only for a module, it is not fitted....on my car the non fitted modules are, steering lock, intrusion, adaptive cruise and 1 more i cannot remember....it always says module not fitted for those 4

When I attended the NP00 (introduction to the New Product S-Type MY 2000) we did get info (TSB?) shortly after about configuring an instrument pack.
North American X200 was NOT EQUIPPED with a steering column lock.

If you replaced the INSTPK and answered the question "STEERING COLUMN LOCK FITTED" with a YES, the INSTPK would be PERMANENTLY damaged and warranty would NOT be covered or accepted and the dealer would be responsible and charged accordingly for any replacement costs.

I am almost certain that the X202 is configured the same.

I looked through my TSBs and Tech Guides but I don't remember where the info is.

If you have a North American S-Type and see any notification or question about "STEERING LOCK FITTED", just answer NO! in the configuration files of the car.
