xtypewagon won't start :(
Hello all, please, don't laugh, it is serious - I know nothing about cars, have been driving our xtype wagon for over a year and it is 16 years old. My hubbie crossed the rainbow last year so I have been taking care of the car with the help of a mechanic but he is too busy now and I am stuck in Montenegro where finding a good mechanic is a real issue. The car is needed very much so I can provide for the family, have two kids.
This morning the car did not start. The battery seems to be all right, the lights switch on but there is no start. After I turn the key I hear a light hitting sound a few times and then the display says "Control Estab. Disactivado". I have no idea where to look and what to do apart from looking for a mechanic locally but maybe someone has been in this situation before and can share their experience with me.
your help is much appreciated!

Welcome to the forums xtypewagon25,
Please add model year to your vehicle details.
If you have been using the vehicle without problems and this has just happened then the battery is top of the list for possible causes. The 'light clicking' you hear is probably the starter solenoid - there's enough battery power to operate it but not enough to turn the starter motor. If the battery is OK then battery cables either loose or breaking up at the terminals is another regular cause of the starter not operating.
Mechanically inclined enough to tackle this yourself?
Graham
