Default ZF 8HP questions

Hi there,

Does anyone have documentation on the ZF 8HP transmission, diagnostics and fault finding? If you could share these it would be much appreciated.

My vehicle is a 17MY XE 2.0d with 8hp45.

I have been reading on the trans and it seems there's a bypass valve for the trans oil to flow around an external cooling system. Separately there seems to by an optional bypass for an oil heating valve.

The heating valve appears to be present on my vehicle but not the cooling valve.

Does the heating valve also serve the purpose of directing the oil to the condenser radiator. I.e. it acts as both a heating valve and a cooling valve, so you wouldn't need a separate valve?

Does anyone happen to know the specification of the valve, including the operating voltage and current? And the pin outs for its connector?

The intention being to operate it manually so that I can fill the coolant and heating lines when refilling the trans oil.

Additionally, when you read service documentation it states that the vehicle should not be towed without releasing the park brake using the release lever. Can anyone advise why that is, and specifically which components could be subject to damage in this scenario?

Thanks,

James
