Default Dead Battery In Key Adventure

Well, this was fun last night. My wife left her phone at the resort where she had dinner and I tried to drive her to go back to get it. The car had locked itself, but would not unlock with the key remote, got the spare key, the same result. Apparently, all my key batteries failed at once. The only warning I had is that the ignition had started to fail to recognize the key (I thought it was a software issue) but I had been having no issues with the remote key locks (in fact to get the key to work I found cycling the locks with the key got the car to recognize it again). Saw nothing on the dash, no alert, zip. After replacing both batteries keys are working fine now and no issues. Suggest everyone learn this page in their manual because it isn't clear how you get under the handle to where you put the physical key in the door to get into the car. Looks like the batteries are good for just short of two years so if your fobs are around that age would suggest replacing batteries.

Here is the link to how you open the car if your key remote stops working: https://www.ownerinfo.jaguar.com/doc.../proc/G2174107

I just replaced the batteries in both my remotes because, although I could unlock the car with them from 100 yards away, I always got the key fob not found warning whenever I tried to start the car. So I could unlock the car from far away but the car could not find the fob when it was inside the car? Very strange.

Yep that was the same thing I was seeing and then they stopped working altogether.

Sorry I didn't look, I just had Batteries+ do the exchange for me. But they have the batteries, getting the key case open is a bit of a PITA.

Rob is correct. Replacing the battery is a PITA. There is a YouTube video that shows you how to do it if you're interested.

That is a tiny battery, why is the remote so heavy? I always assumed it contains a monster battery, now I suspect they just added lead.
