Lower cost, lower performance, I-Pace Coming
Apparently Jaguar is coming out with a version of the I-Pace that is a little lower in cost but a lot lower in power. Not sure this makes that much sense: https://www.greencarreports.com/news...-no-more-range
I-Pace Prices here in the UK are very high, and taxation is very high, so Jaguar need to lower the price a considerable amount if they want any sales at all. The car has not sold well here. Like the US, owners are totally dependent on the public charging network which is really quite flaky, so long journeys are a no-no. Tesla owners, on the other hand have the exclusive use of the Tesla rapid chargers. Also cars in this price range are bought by companies for their execs who don't want a car that is so restrictive to their activities. Just try doing a tour of Scotland or going to the Lake District for a couple of days.
Have a look at Harries Garage on YouTube: -
The car is brilliant, but just try getting it charged-up ! Ok if you just drive locally and have a home charger.

What I meant about not-much sense is that the price reduction seemed pretty light but the power drop was significant. It seemed a bad value, if the power is way down I think the price should drop sharply as well. Only $5,500 cheaper but you lose a whopping 2 seconds, you go from a performance car to the acceleration of mini-van. I've never understood the idea of a cheap luxury car.
