Default Swap out wood trim for aluminum?

Just bought a 2010 coupe (pick it up tomorrow!), passing on a 2009 R coupe. Happy with the decision (opinions?) in general, but really liked the brushed aluminum (?) trim on the R.

I see that Jaguar offers trim bits, and I assume they duplicate what I saw in the R. Anyone know the cost? Fit/finish?

Posted this here before I realized there was a specific forum. Can't see how to delete this, but don't mind if mods do ...

Default Wood vs. aluminum...

Call me traditional but, for me, wood is part of the Jaguar magic. For me a stamped aluminum panel looks cheap while wood looks warm and British. That is particularly why I disliked all the aluminum on the XF dash panels.

I tend to agree, but the semi-rough aluminum looked nice. Also, it would blend with the metal seat-adjustment cluster. Man, is that bit ugly, or what?

I faced a similiar dilemma and decided on a low mileage 2009 XKR Portfolio Convertible with Ivory/Slate Interior with the Spun Aluminum and piano black trim bits. IMO this is a very sexy combo in a Sports GT Car like the XK. My wife has a 2006 XJL with the walnut trim and it looks proper with that car's interior which matches the personality of the car. Although the XKR matches my wifes personality and the XJL exemplifies my personality...lol...

There is nothing british at all to the xk's. So that aluminium gives a sportier look anyway not hampering the british look which it didn't have anyway.
That plastic centre console and plastic pedal shifts really puts me off

I loved the wood in my '69 E-type, but I'd like to replace the wood w/ aluminum in my 08 XKR. This is the 21st Century. IMO, aluminum looks better.

I've done a good amount of research on interior trim, but could find nothing for XKR.
I guess there's not enough of them in this country to entice a mfr. to make them.

take a look at (stickercity.com) this is a cheaper way to cover wood than using the real thing. they have 2 or 3 types of aluminum finish even diamond plate. i used the carbonfiber wrap on my xtype dash wood peices. they will send you samples to see if you like it.
