Trying to make jaguar hot rod
I'm sorry to be bad news but without installing pretty much all electronics from the original car it wont fire - if you have a standalone engine management system like a Tech 2/3, then it should. Need to know more about what you've installed electronically to support the engine.
I would assume that the Jaguar engine is still in the Jaguar, and the OP is just trying to start it in situ....so maybe someone could answer that question (beyond my limited knowledge of the newer cars).
Street rods and hot rods are unfortunately doomed to have older model American car engines due to the incompatibility of modern OBDII electronics.
Ford now has a their new 5.0 (Mustang) crate motor and Chevy has their new LS 6.2 litre motor that comes with all the high tech electronics and wiring harnesses.
Hot Rod TV just dyno'd the Chevy (Corvette/Camaro) engine @ 490 hp--while running as smooth as silk. They recently put a new 5.0 in Factory Five's 33 Ford replicar--and the car was a complete beast.
My buddy has four '49 Mercury convertibles, and he's always buying wrecked Mustang GT's for the running gear and wiring harnesses. They make great show/driving cars.
