Forum speed / pages hanging / load times....IMPROVED??
Dear ALL,
some of us in the UK and Europe are experiencing issues with the forum from time to time.
This can show as the following.......
Slow to load, with the "timer" running.
Pages hanging excessively.
Generally poor performance.
We're looking into this as we speak and trying to get the best picture possible of who is affected and to what extent?
The answers may help us to improve the site, or at least thats the goal and is therefore in everyones best interest.
I'd really appreciate any feedback from as many members as possible andalso from as wide an audience as possible.
Thanks in advance
Jim

Not experiencing any problems at all here.
BUT I DON'T LOAD THE AD SERVERS, SIDE BARS, or HEADER BANNERS/IMAGES.
Remove the above and the forum loads pretty instantly with seemless page transitions even when deciding to open multiple tabs/pages over different browsers.
The slowest browser for the forum with my setup is FF.
Generally I use IE9 with a 250mb cache, currently showing over 10,000 files.

I'm currently using FF25 as I am having issues with IE
I've recently upgraded to fibre optic and have 32.5MB download and 6.4MB upload so its not my connection.
Just for the record, other sites I use load instantly.
As discussed, pages hang for a long time occasionally, from 30 secs up to a minute or two sometimes, slow to load and generally pages can be sticky when this happens.
I've had no option but to revert to the default version which is fine, no issues to report. Its very quick for me, just not as nice looking but hey ho.
Thanks guys, please keep the feedback coming as it will all help, the wider audience the better!

Hi all,
please see message from IB below, re forum site speed, load times etc
"Lastly, I have a brief update on Jaguar Forums’ loading speeds. We performed maintenance on the site last night (our time) that may help to speed up the slow page loads. Please see how the site performs over the next few days and let me know if you see any improvements on your end."
I have to say I was running in default mode to speed things up which worked very well, but it is a little bland looking tbh.
However, after this I have reverted back to Jaguar37 with all the bolt ons, and for me , it is now almost electric.....very speedy page loads, no hanging etc, really ALL Good.
I will be checking this back n forth on different days, different times of the day / night etc, but would appreciate further feedback.
Thanks

You can always try the following site to load the pages as a user would see them as the test machines around the world fully emulate the browser selected for the test:
WebPagetest - Website Performance and Optimization Test
Then click on the results to see the nitty gritty of the loading of each element on the page.
update:
I just did one for a machine in Kansas City, which is pretty much equidistant to most points of the lower 48, and the results can be seen at:
WebPagetest Test Result - Kansas City : www.jaguarforums.com - 11/14/13 02:21:48
WebPagetest Test Details - Kansas City : www.jaguarforums.com - 11/14/13 02:21:48
load time 15.997 seconds, 265 files, 1,712 KB for the home page alone.
whoops ... 20.572 seconds for "fully loaded" status.
There is, cough ... room for improvement.
(disclosure: my company is a "webpagetest partner")
