When I compose a long, picture heavy post, I write it up in Notepad FIRST (saving once in a while in case of computer freeze), having already renamed the pictures I want to use.
Then, in the body of the text in Notepad, I put, (insert, picture name) between carets "< >" on a separate line.
That way, when I'm finally ready to write up a post, pictures are already named for easy location. Then I simply Copy/Paste from Notepad to the compose screen, insert the correct pictures (careful to remove the picture name in carets), proof read a few times with Preview Post, and when I'm satisfied, hit Submit.
If some disaster happens while I'm in the midst of composing, nothing is really lost as my text is saved on the desktop and pictures properly named and saved in a specific folder, so it takes minimum time to do it again if necessary.
