how to insert photos into body text of thread
I tried posting a thread with imbedded photos and the preview looked fine.
After posting, the thread looked fine with all photos showing imbedded in the right places in the text.
The next day, all the photos were gone.
Can anybody explain how to add (and keep) photos within the body text of a thread posting?

Hey there, have you tried checking out the "how to post pictures" thread in this section?
Its pretty simple really......
You can also try clicking on the attachments logo A box will open and you can either browse your pc and get a picfrom there OR upload the url of a pic and add that way.
You can also click on the envelope icon as below
a box will open and you can also add the url that way.....
depending on what priveleges you have you may be able to simply copy and paste directly into the post you are adding.
Any further probs please ask

Manage Attachments
This is just a test upload, to see what tweaks I need to make, using Manage attachments because I normally get a time out error and have to resort to a hosting site.
OK this eventually, after repeated attempts, puts up a clickable thumb, not quite what I was aiming for, so will try another method.

Copy link location
This is acheived using the copy link location into the insert image envelope, from my account with photobucket.
OK edit, well that didn't work at all. Right click on image, copy link location, click insert image envelope, paste link, and post.
Result nothing.

lol its like watching a comedy sketch
be careful with the code from pbucket, often times theirs includes the IMG tags, only grab the file location, then use the forums IMAGE icon.
If you get the little thumbnail thing going at least, you can right click on the thumnail, 'copy link location', and then insert the IMAGE again using the forums own server location. The thumnail will still be there, but you'll also have a larger image... for instance, look at your previous thread.

Copy image code and delete [IMG] tags
This is acheived by copying the full size image code (with P/Bucket) and then using the insert image button on the forum.
Be careful to delete the [IMG] tags from both ends of the link after pasting and before posting.

Image posting summary
OK this was an exercise in different methods of posting pics.
I have previously posted numerous images in replies to posts in order to illustrate a point, and was just wanting to see if there was a better/quicker method.
Most of the above methods do work.
However for me the least certain method is the 'manage attachments' system to post directly from a hard drive. It invariably causes a server time out issue requiring the use of the 'back' button and recommencing via a hosting site.
The most certain method is to use a hosting service such as Photobucket. Upload images to them and then cross link to here. More long winded, but it works.
This may be due to my Internet Connection or my location (mainland Europe).
BTW, copy/paste directly into the body of a post is not an option.
Now all I need to do is to take some decent pics.
