It may be after a post or simply selecting a thread.
If I (eg) click on 'New Posts' then select a thread in less than 3 secs does that count as two searches?

Being a JFOF I know jolly well I spent more than 30 secs since my last post!
And it has posted twice!

Steve I too have had this happen on occassion. I would say a couple times per year. I don't know how many times you use the search feature, but I use it often to help out fellow members here.

I just look at it as a hiccup in the system and wait my 29 seconds.

Rick,
It happens every day and I hardly ever use the search function.
It happens as above, click on New Posts, select a thread, get the message.
It's not important but might mean summat's up!

Steve, please see below..............

You may prevent your users from flooding your forum with posts by activating this feature.

By enabling floodcheck, you disallow users from making another post within a given time span of their last posting. In other words, if you set a floodcheck time span of 30 seconds, a user may not post again within 30 seconds of making his last post.

Administrators and moderators are exempt from floodcheck.

Jim,
As I say it isn't important but it doesn't work as advertised - or to quote you
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool!!
Thanks for replying.

With my Internet Connection, anything I may post could easily take 30 seconds to cross the Atlantic, thus no problem.

With my typing speed, there's not the remotest chance of being bothered by the 30 second limit.
