Default Posting quick tip

Sometimes you may notice that when hitting the submit reply button, the forum seems to lock-up and the only way that you can get out of this situation is to hit your back button and start again.

This can lead to a double post because your original request has been sent but the processing has not been finished. There doesn't seem to be much that you can do about this.

However to help avoid the lock-up condition when you first decide to reply to a post it will help you, if you decide right at the beginning what type of reply you are going to be making.

If you are only going to include text in the body of your reply and nothing else (no smileys, no pictures etc.) then the "quick reply" button is adequate and you should not have too many problems.

If your reply is likely to include smileys, pictures, links, formatting, etc., then use the "advanced button" before you even begin your reply.

This will then load the blank advanced page with all the tool bars, ready for use. Rather than having to send a request for a reload at the end of your reply, which may cause the famous lock-up condition?

Also recommended, if you are making a long, or heavily structured reply, copy your post to your clipboard before either hitting the submit button, or the preview button.

By doing this you will have a copy on your local machine, should you need to redo your post because of problems, and will therefore avoid the very annoying issue of having to retype the whole post.

Browsers used:

Tweaked Firefox,
IE 8,
Opera 10,
Maxthon 2.5.11
Google Chrome,
Apple Safari.

Hope this helps,

Bravo, Translator! I couldn't have said it better myself.

Another tip is to empty out the temporary files from time to time. This will keep the web browser from becoming clogged with miscellaneous crud that it really doesn't need.
