Hi All,
I've noticed recently, that for some reason, we've had our fair share of scammers on the site.
Some posting openly on the public forums are easy to track and I can get them banned Immediately.
There has been a few recently though who have resorted to not posting openly ( which means I cannot track them ) but have sent pm's to various members.
I have been sent examples of this and banned them ASAP afterwards.

Please, please, for the benfefit af ALL here, send me a mail / pm if you see any scammers on site and certainly straight away if any of them pm you so that we can keep them off our site.

What kinds of scams are we to look for? Can you give an example?

Re spammers ......just thye usual really. Anyone not interested in the site but very interested in selling you mobile phones/Ipods/ The latest Tv''s etc etc.....anyone from Nigeria who has won $30 or been willed $30 but needs you to send them $500 so they can get it etc etc etc.....You'll know the kind of stuff.
Hopefully you won't see any / mutch......if yo do, let me or the mods know and we'll deal with it asap

I saw MarthaSmith and was suspicious but thought I could be wrong and let her run with it to see where it'd go....After the 3rd post I just thought enough was enough as you guys did.

Jaguarspares was another that looked suspicious and I just got rid

We seem to have more probs with this new software that the old one....looking into ways to stop them / slow them down.

Sadly enough Jim the spam bots really aren't bad here compared to other forums I'm on. The only one I never see any spammers on is www.discoweb.org ..

I hate to think what its like elsewhere then.......The good thing is I'm always on the look out and the pm's and heads up from you guys reacting pretty quick too, means that they're usually not around for long.
Its just keeping on top of them I guess.

These guys are getting WAY out of hand!!! That guy who posted the nasty pics involving kids in the X Type thread should be SHOT!!!! And I would love to be the one to pull the damn trigger!! There are a couple more that just sprung up within the last 20min.

but we do seem to be getting more popular. You guys might want to consider adding a few more mods maybe one per forum so you aren't always getting beat down with the spam notifications.

 

You can always spot the spammers right away because their screen names are completely off the wall and if you check out their profile they all say they are a man and repeat the same info. Like this:

Please welcome our newest spammer Uphopsnum! These guys are like friggn cockroaches! They just keep poring out of the damn wood work!

 

The real problem with these spammers are they don't include a email addy so I can't sign them up for gay **** emailing lists

 

Three more .... Gemaagise, Bugpoodymum and and new one who is just registering now... pigawea! ( I checked out the profile and it said they were currently registering.) Don't these people have a life? Unbelievable.

I think a mod for each forum would be a way to go here at least then we have a few more people that are able to delete these morons before they get to out of hand.

I'll add that going on today this is now the most spammed forum I belong to.
