420 G wont stay running

Hey, new to the forum here. First question I've got is about a 420 G that runs for a couple of minutes when cold then seems to cough and sputter. It tries really hard to idle but wont stay running.
You have to leave the key on with the pump running (either tank) for a good 30 seconds to get it to fire too.
From what I gather though that has been the case for quite some time but the rough running is a new phenomenon.
Any starting points would be most appreciated.

this sounds exactly like what happened my xj6. it turned out to be the aed (auxillary enrichment device) i dont know if the g has a similar system but maybe the fuelling is a place to start?

Go to 420G Restoration.
Mine likes to run rich, but no other suggestions
