65 Mark 10 restore and value ?

This thread would be a good place to start for guidance on restoration of 420G/Mk10:

With any restoration the overall cost depends largely on how much of the work you can do yourself. Expertise in this sector doesn't come cheap for quality work.
There are very few Jaguar models where the resale value will give a return on the investment of time and money needed for restoration. It has to be primarily because you want to do it rather than hope to make money.

Not many of these left in the USA. It isn't the most popular old Jag (it wasn't a big seller to begin with) and they seldom change hands, so it's hard to determine what market value is.
I think the most I've seen one sell for is about $10-$12k for a fully restored example. Could be wrong.
If it needs paint, chrome, wood, and full interior retrim I can see $20k being spent in the blink of an eye....probably more.
Then there's mechanical refurbishment.....
So much depends on how much DIY labor you can provide.
Cheers

My 66 MK 10
I had a MK 10 for many years ..you can fix most any thing on it. But don't expect return on ur money great luxury. good Ride try for as good acar as possible ...rust is bad !!! trans. is Borg Warner motor needs to bealso sound cause u can easily spend more on it than car is worth. Most things on mine worked and I only drove it a few miles a year more would have been better . I drove mine so seldom the diaphragm in the fuel pump dried out and eventullaly caused trunk fire . Most beautiful interior Best of luck

Hi. I've restored my 420G for £12000… you can see the results on this list , 420G RESTORATION. I've done the lot, inside, underside and outside. I've cut out every bit of rust, put all new nuts, bolts, hoses, pipes etc etc. Now I'm enjoying my labours knowing that there is only a few in the World of the same condition. If you want a quality ride, looks when you go out, then go for it. As for the money, you pay for your pleasures!!! I'm enjoying mine.
