Default 69 420G - restoration

Started the restoration on this vehicle which was set for wrecker.
Tested driveline, everything within specs
Currently stripped (other than driveline) exterior and interior (other than driveline)
Interior almost completed
Trim wood at a carpenter's shop being refinished
Body work started. Was not bad. The usual spots on the front floor next to the wheel wheel, rear lower under the gas tank area, and the front horizontal piece under the front grill.
Not doing a concourse restoration, rather a level 2 driver.
Will send out all trim, bumpers to be stripped and rechromed.

Quesition: I am missing the leaping cat on the front bonnet...trim was there but no jaguar. know where i can get an oem one?

I am hating this car already, but motivation is when it is done!

Looking good uras.

Are you using the image app to attach the pictures?
If so you should have the option to add more after the first one has uploaded.

There's a lot of veneered trim when you see stripped out of the car and put together like that!

thank you. did check their website and you are correct....with the bracket, washer, nut, looking at just under $40. I am going to put my list together so i can order one time. the killer is really customs...by the time courier puts their customs charges, we (in Canada) end up paying like $60 extra for a $40 part. i have a friend in buffalo so i ship everything there and every couple of weeks, either he visits me or i visit him and the parts are transported.

Nice one! The key to restoring any old car is do a little and often.
Heres my 68 as she sits now....and i still find bits and pieces to do most days.
Best of luck. Jj.

Thanks jjd.
Anyone have any thoughts on colour? With the tannish interior, wanted to do a 2 tone. Black at top of belt moulding, and something at bottom - maybe same colour as interior.

Black over silver always looks good and would make it look very sleek. I think it was offered as a factory option.

Two rear door panels remaining, otherwise interior is done and ready for installation.
Picked up the woodwork yesterday from. It looks absolutely amazing.
Body still being worked on. Most of it has been taken down to the metal. Repairing the rusted areas.

I dont envy you with all the sanding ahead of you, they are a huge car! I went thru serious amounts of primer and sandpaper before getting to top coat. But it will be all worth it, the G is a seriously impressive motorcar. It dwarfs everything else in my garage, even the sel merc looks dainty by comparison!

if you are still having issues with shipping my brother is in Texas and set a shipping/ consolidation business 5 years ago to help me out with my aircraft business in Austraia. You ring him and he does everything, and I bet you can't move it for a better price or ease than he can quote. Email him on ausconshipping@gmail.com. His name is Richard and he is regularly moving parts to and from Canada

making some headway. interior is completed, wood work is completed. body is about 1/2 way done. after much thought, going to keep it the original black and repaint the rims same black body colour. just not sure if I should go with blackwall, thin whitewall, or wide whitewall tires?

just when I thought I was resolved to back exterior, like jjd had mentioned before, the black over silver was an option. I looked at it again, and now I am back to the starting block as don't know which lane I should be in.....the black over silver does look good and it has the same tannish interior colour. why is life so difficult!

Black over silver lowers and lengthens the car making it very sleek, plus as it was an original colour option keeps the purists happy! If all comes to all its easy to paint the bottom half black again if you dont like it as the chrome waist line provides the perfect line to paint to. Only the sides get two tone treatment, not the bonnet or boot. Easy peasy!

it is growing on me.
would you suggest rims in silver or black? i think in silver, and with the whitewalls, better flow.
