Default Mark V steering wheel

Hi Can any one advise what the Mark V was finished with was it painted or powder coated and can it be powder coated?

If you mean the rim, it's a black plastic moulding. Note that powder coating was not around in 1951 in the UK motor industry so the spokes, of not bare metal will be painted, possibly stove-enamelled.

Default Mark V Steering wheel

What was available was a black plastic solution, the wheels were dipped then run through a drying oven and left hanging to harden with the residual heat.

The material hardens over time and after 60 plus years will become brittle, break & peel of in strips/sheets.
