Default MK10 Switch ID help

1st time in this section.

Cleaning up one of the sheds, found a shoebox with MK X bits and pieces in it.

It was a 1963 3.8 Auto just in case it matters.

Most I have identified, but this switch has me stumped.

The "bolt" looks like a door hinge to body bolt.

I am thinking an Interior Light Courtesy Switch, spring seems to have "sprung" as the plunger simply sides in and out at will.

Does anyone know what it really is please?

My memory is not as good as I thought it was, and it was 20+ years ago we dismantled that car, and scrapped it, due to serious structural rust.

Thanks in advance

It definitely looks like one of those switches commonly placed in a door shut to detect door-open. Trouble is the wire colours don't seem to match the UK standard ! I looke at Purple with Yellow tracer and this gives "Horn to horn relay", so maybe this is the switch in the centre of the steering wheel.

Thanks Fraser.

That could explain why there is only one of them.

I searched through my parts manual and it showed a picture of this switch being part number C19230, C-pillar rear light switch. Checking my electrical layout, that switch had purple and yellow wiring. So you should have two of these switches. The parts manual did not have any switch in the horn.

THANK YOU Phil,

Sadly there should be a lot of things in the storage that are not there.
I am slowly, (brain is willing, body is not), going through things.

Throwing things away is against all logic, so thank you again.

This part seems to be long gone in terms of availability. I am wondering if the switch can be opened up and repaired...? There just might be someone out there looking for one of those!

John,

You and I think alike.

I am finding all sorts of "gems", wondering how on earth ONE human being could hoard so much Jag stuff??, and I agree, someone with steadier hands than me, and more than one eye, could replace the spring I am sure.

I have found some XJS,Series 2/3 stuff also, but I have held off advertising on here, as shipping to USA, UK, Euro ,is a huge gamble, according to my shipping sources.

When things get better sorted, Covid etc, not me, I will do the right thing, obviously.

If you want to replace the switch, contact Jack White at Jagnut Jaguar Spares. He has a huge inventory of parts for Mark X cars. He is in Virginia, USA and can be reached only by phone at 540-743-1059 or 540-743-4037 or by writing to him at 145 Rifle Lane, Luray Virginia, 22835.
