This may be dear, but I should think would be worth its weight when doing a restoration

Fishing again for an update. Our Mark IX resto is progressing now.

Hopefully you didn't get buried in the pile of rust!

Not sure if you still need this info, but floor panel replacement is quite easy by simply welding in new sheet metal. If you need details, let me know. Also, here is something to consider if not too late. Consider keeping it all "Jag", but updating it to a more modern car with fuel injection, 4 wheel disk brakes with ABS, modern air conditioning etc. I just bought a 1987 donor XJ6 to use with my MK V restoration project. I am using the 4.2 engine, drive train and suspension! Anyway, it will have the classic "looks" without the classic "nightmares"!

Here is what it should look like when done;

I hope this info is useful, and good luck on the project. If you need help with the woodwork, let me know. This is a specialty of mine!

All the best,

Craig Sibley

Floor boards and the bottoms of doors are not a big problem. Welding in some new metal should make it as good as new. I am restoring a 1950 MK V, and will be showing pics on this process. Let me know if you have any questions about this. I'll help anyway I can (short of putting on the welding goggles for ya that is! hehehe)!

Hello Cybersid
I hope everyone will forgive me for getting off topic but I am planning to install a fuel injected engine into a previously carbureted chassis. How far are you on with that? Any tips? It might be better if you replied to me off-line at greg.perry@airways.co.nz.

Thanks

GP

Is there a easy way to get panels for this car to where I can cut the rusted parts off and weld new panels in. This is a do it myself project but I need some guidence.
Hi. These are superb cars when restored. I'm doing a Mark 9 manual with overdrive gearbox now. All the panels you want are available from www.worcesterclassicspares.com . Simon is very very helpful and posts parts worldwide. Try not to put a Chevvy engine in the car get the original re-built there is nothing wrong with it if done properly. Alan

Clive. Yes I did, it has been on for a long time. I've had a pile of mark 9 items for sale recently including a brand new factory radiator grille still in its wrappings. Two of them came with a car I'm now restoring, I'm using the other one myself. You recently published my article in JEC thenk you. Alan

ps i promise 420g update this weekend.

Just starting a restoration of my 1959 Mk IX, though I've owned it for 12 years on full registration, the time has come. I've been buying parts from S.N.G Barratt Group in the UK.
Can anyone tell me how to remove the interior timber trim around the door openings, is it clipped on like the door sill timber?

If it is the door cappings you are referring to each one consists of 2 parts. The top part is screwed on and holds the side piece safely in place. With the top piece removed the other piece will slide upwards, it is held on by clips.

Default Mk IX 2 door coupe

Hi,

Im new to the forum but my first Jag in 1978 was a Mk IX.
35 years later I have 2. I a very good restorer. Been in dry storage in the back of a panel shop for 25 years.
The other a project. I could never cut a good body, so I am now in the process of building my own Jag because the 2nd one needed work(lots of rust but am restoring the body anyway), A 2 door MK IX fixed head coupe. Ive cut it and removed 450mm by the time is welded back together.
Series 3 front and rear end a supercharged 3.8. Sitting low and sweet.

The BEAST has started.

Any way hi to every one and will check in regular to see what you guys are up to.

If you need parts for a resto I may be able to help as I also have a MK 2 that is in line for a 2003 S type floor and interior. A series 3 good interior ( think Ian Callum and you get the idea.) And spare MK IX parts.
