Default Barn Find

[/IMG]Hi

I bought a home in Winnipeg to tear down and build new.

The owner said his mother had this car and has not been moved since 1979.

Has 15,000 miles.

Anyone know if the car is worth anything?

He said 1958 year.

Dunno what model.

I have Porsches and Mustangs. Know nothing about Jags.

Tnx!

Mike

Oh wait 1958 would make it a MK8. They look the same externally.

I was just looking at these for my next project! Pristine models of this are selling around $15,000, depending where you are.

After sitting that long I'm sure all the rubber bushings, gaskets and seals in the entire drivetrain and suspension need replacing. Any idea why it was parked? Have mice chewed up the interior?

If I had the cash to purchase another car right now I'd be heading your way with my trailer! That's my kinda car!

Did not look inside.

No surface rust, the vendor said the engine did run.

I assume engine needs work.

I get the home July 15 and will tear the place down.

If the car is there I will keep it and put in a storage place.

If it was a 2 door I would have bought the car.

The engine runs?! It's worth buying regardless of how many doors.

Hell I could probably find a couple of buyers tonight at the pub for you.

Well if you're looking to donate to a well deserving driveway I'm pretty sure I can clear a space!
I like the 4-door models, but then, I have a family.

Even with all that dust, it looks good.

That was when chrome was chrome and steel was steel.

Looks like we are in the same boat! I recently acquired a 1950 Mark V. It is not nearly as "together" as your vehicle, but all the parts are there and should be cool as a driver. I'm dropping in a 1987 XJ6 4.2 Litre, and all modern suspension. If you view my opening post you'll see a pic of where I am at with it at the moment! I think the post was called Restoring a 1950 Jaguar MK V. Best of luck to you, and please post pics as it "comes along"!

BTW... mine wasn't found in a barn, but has been sitting in El Mirage Desert in California for around 15 years. The last time it was registered was in 1983, and when we pulled it out, we found a serious rat nest in it! I had 15 years of Desert Dust and Rat Poop to clean out of it. Dirty job, but someone's gotta do it! hehehe!
