Description:

This is my daily driver X-Type Wagon. It has higher mileage, paint has seen better days, small dings here and there as to be expected of anything driven daily with the age and mileage. Just doesn't "feel" special to me, so I'm looking to pass it on to a fellow enthusiast, rather than some random on FB marketplace. Screenshot of my spreadsheet listing most of what I've done to the car will be in the pictures. I'm very open to trades, partial trades, etc. I will have a list in the pictures of cars I'm looking for as my next vehicle, so if you have something on that list, please message me even if you aren't interested in trading.

3.0, Nav, Sunroof. Interior is in fantastic shape, minus the fabric on the sunroof shade. Has the original cargo cover w/ the dog divider, as well as the Jaguar Sirius Kit (not installed, but included). Nav system works, although I think the disc drive in the back need cleaned because it sometimes boot loops (fixed by resetting the fuse or cycling the key a few times), phone pairing and all functions work correctly though.

Car has 100% new front suspension. I was chasing a front suspension clunk, and ended up just going through everything, replacing anything old or worn. Car has new upper strut mounts, strut bearings, bump stops, FCS struts, (bolt-in) ball joints, sway bar end links, sway bar bushings, control arms on both sides, CV axles on both sides, tie rod ends on both sides, fresh Bosch ESI6 brake fluid, and I serviced the transmission while I was there. I will be taking it in for an alignment within the next week, as it's obviously very off after replacing the outer tie rods. I have a full set of Michelin CrossClimate2 tires I will be installing at some point after I get it aligned.

I've also done the intake runner valve o-rings, coolant reservoir (Dorman), water pump belt+tensioner, flushed the power steering fluid, cabin filter, headlight internals, along with several other little odds and ends.

Full list of all known problems:
Mechanically there's nothing really wrong with the car.

The oil pressure sensor is failing, and will illuminate/flicker at idle when the engine bay is hot. From browsing the X-Type and S-Type forums, this is a very common issue. I changed the oil 3x over the span of a week (back in ~April 2023) with varying viscosities to test to make sure it wasn't the engine, and I was able to replicate the same result in the same conditions every time. Only seems to happen once the engine bay gets very hot (hot day, stopped, in traffic). Could not replicate it after going on a longer high-speed drive with good airflow through the engine bay, then stopping. To replace the sensor involves removing the AC compressor, and I did not and do not want to risk losing AC in my car, to remove a dummy light that I've verified isn't accurate, especially as I live rural and do not encounter many stops or traffic.

CEL is illuminated for a sometimes-faulty downstream Bank 2 O2 sensor. The o-ring for the coolant outlet pipe on the passenger side of the engine started leaking, so I will replace that this weekend most likely. Serpentine belt tensioner has started making a slight noise so it will need replaced, which I may do over the coming weeks. Engine Roll Restrictor feels worn, I already have the replacement, and will replace it if I can have access to a friend's lift in the near future. Valve cover gaskets leak, as expected from anything this age. Passenger mirror and window motor will need replaced, I replaced the mirror after a low-speed bump with a deer, the glass fell out as soon as I shut the door after installing it, and the power window motor died the same day... so I've been waiting to get both so I can do them at the same time.

I replaced the coolant outlet o-ring today. Decided to flush the coolant while I was there.

I also reconnected the FL wheel speed sensor, as you can see that was mentioned in my list of To-Do's, I just didn't fully plug it in when I was working on that side of the suspension, and it came loose.

I didn't mention it on the ad, but the car is 99.99% rust free. The only rust it has is a little surface rust on a 1/4" paint chip on the very bottom of the FL fender where it curves into the wheel opening, I coated this down in some Fluid Film. I also coated the inner wheel wells behind the plastic liners in a mix of Fluid Film and Cosmoline, in addition to spraying the sills at the top where they meet the body (where the side skirt meets the body) with a couple of cans of fluid film, so it would run down the opening and coat the rockers/sills to prevent any future corrosion.

As another update:
Got an alignment done on 2/23/2024.

Over this weekend I replaced the upper and lower intake gaskets to resolve a very slight hesitation when under load while cold. Also replaced all 6 spark plugs while I was in there, Bosch 9606 Double Iridium. Also replaced the valve cover gaskets, along with the seals for the VVT solenoids. As well as obviously painting the valve covers while I had them removed to brighten up the engine bay a touch. I cleaned the PCV system and intakes thoroughly while they were both removed.

Although I can obviously not verify it, I believe the car to have a relatively new timing chain. Newish looking RTV remnants where the timing cover meets the head, a different colored master link (which i don't believe to be on the OEM chain?), as well as absolutely zero play in the chain as far as I can tell (which seems unusual for the mileage).

As another update:
  1. Replaced the hood struts as they had gotten a bit weak.
  2. Also installed new sway bar bushings and links for the rear, replaced the rear wheel studs and installed single-piece lug nuts.
  3. Also flushed the rear brakes with new Bosch ESI6 Fluid (had already done the fronts about a month ago if my memory serves me)
  4. Blew dust out of the nav drive which seems to have fixed the read and boot loop error for the time being
I've put maybe a couple hundred miles on the car since replacing the intake gaskets, car idles much smoother, feels like it has more power and is smoother throughout the rev range, and most importantly: The aforementioned oil pressure light issue I mentioned in my original post seems to have been resolved? Or at least I haven't been able to replicate it. Perhaps the wire to it was loose and I somehow bumped it when doing the valve cover gaskets, or replacing the intake gaskets and improving the idle quality had a factor... not sure

Back with another update:

I haven't really driven the car much, outside of a couple of trips to the lake with the kayak.

The front left wheel bearing has started making noise. Car is still drivable, but I'd recommend a trailer. If I replace it I'll post an update or add it to my spreadsheet. Oil pressure issue is still there intermittently (in gear at idle with engine bay heat-soaked on a hot day)... Not sure what it is at this point. I was going to pull the pan, clean it, clean the pickup, and replace the o-ring for it, but quite frankly it's hot outside and I don't have time.

12V battery is starting to get on the weak side, been having to jump it after sitting for a few days. I have it out and on my reconditioner but it's something to be aware of.

At this point, I have too many other projects going on, not enough space, and it's too hot outside to where I feel like working on it.

If anyone's interested, knowing all that's listed above, They can have it for $1350? 1500 if I throw in the set of CrossClimate2's?

Or, if you're in the NoVa/DC area, there's a certain Peugeot 505 on Craigslist I would be very interested in trading for... DM me if you're interested.

Bought a new wheel bearing. Depending on weather over the next week I may go ahead and install it. If not, it'll of course be included with the car. If/when I do the wheel bearing, I'll change the lower torque mount for the trans at the same time since I'll have access to a lift
