With the engine number, it will be much easier to check which exhaust / manifolds it should have, while your looking get the chassis / body number too, that will be on the vin plate too.

Ok Ben, let's try:-

Manifolds Part No C13864 superseded by C2213 which is the same as the early Mk2
Part No C13865 superseded by C2214 which is the same as the early Mk2

The parts below are not the same as the early Mk2, but are the parts relevant to your engine and chassis numbers.

Downpipes C12718/1 and C12720/1
Silencers C13578/1 and C13578/2
Tailpipes C13576 and C13577

You have a late 1959 built 3.4 which I assume was registered in 1960, but only the Heritage certificate would confirm this.

The manifolds are available from SNG, and you should confirm that the exhaust you have matches the parts above, the sealing rings are no longer available, but according to the service bulletins you can use the newer sealing rings, as I cannot find any reference to a flat gasket in the Mk1 or Mk2 parts catalogues.

Hope this helps.

Ok, so with the exhaust system we have, which uses the aluminum ring seal, should the square flange on the manifold mount flush with the square flange on the exhaust system or will there be a gap between the two? Also, with these manifolds, is there an inset or some kind of conical surface that the seal mates up with? I can see if these two flanges dont mate up together that over tightening the bolts could once again break off one of the studs over time. Just want to make sure this goes together correctly.

I can't tell you that as I don't know what you have supplied by SNG, do you know what the part numbers are ? Or did they just supply a complete exhaust.

There is a cone on the pipes, and usually a recess on the manifold, but I have not seen the Mk1 manifolds so I can't say for sure with those, the XK120 had flat gaskets for sure, and you never know if someone has swapped manifolds at some point in the past unless you can find a part number.

There will always be some gap between the two flanges as the sealing rings are slightly compressed. Can you find a part number on the existing manifolds, they may be cast on them ?

I will post some pics of the Mk2 manifolds later when I get a chance so you can see those.

So, I believe the exhaust system that was purchased for the car was part #SS JR71U. As far as i know this came as a complete system. Hopefully this is what your looking for. Again, thats for the help.

I can't find any reference to that part number on the web, did it come from SNG ?

I may have found the reference it hopefully should be BSSJR007, this may be the wrong exhaust, the other option is BSSJR009.

Hopefully JoeSantana will post the issues he had with his early exhaust on here for you , or you could look at his posts, he had the wrong exhaust and had to replace the studs too.

Just a quick update on what Ive been doing with this exhaust. Just last weekend we bought new exhaust manifolds that should fit the new exhaust with the donut style seal. I found them from a Jaguar place in California. I will update again once I get them installed. Hopefully I can get to it within the next week or two. Of course I want to thank all for their patience and help with this car.

Got the manifolds and the exhaust system hooked up last weekend. All installed pretty easily however there was a very slight exhaust leak at where one of the donut seals was at. We let the engine continue to idle for sometime and the exhaust leak went away. Not sure if these aluminum seals soften a bit with the heat and give a better seal or not. Just wondering if its normal or not. Also, the old manifolds, are they worth anything to anyone? Not sure if I should try to sell them or toss them. Thanks again to all for the help getting this done.
