Default "59 LHD Mk1 Front Suspension Crossmember Interchangeability??

The front suspension crossmember on my LHD Mk1 is in sad shape and might not be repairable. If that is the case, I'll be on the lookout for another crossmember. I've been told that the front suspension crossmember from a Mk2 will work on the Mk1. Can anyone verify that?

Thanks,
Pete

You'll probably find its OK but.....

The front suspension geometry on the Mark 1 was seriously deficient, for instance the roll centre was below the road surface. Not good !! The rear track was also quite narrow too. So the suspension geometry was reconfigured for the Mark 2, but I don't know whether this involved a new front subframe or whether it was just different top and bottom wishbones. Certainly if you mount a complete Mark 2 front suspension it will work. You can't do the same on the rear as I think the the body panels were adjusted for a wider track.
