Default 62 MK2, 3.8 Blower Motor & Fan

I just got the heater box out and apart. The drain had been clogged for years, at least it looks that way. I can repair the box but the fan and motor are trash. My question is this. Does anyone know of a different fan anb motor assembly the will fit? I’m modifying the housing so both parts fit as an assembly. So they can be removed without removing the heater box assembly. I know it won’t be original. Once the thing goes in I’m not removing it again, famous last words. So before I start searching on my own I figured at least someone has gone this way before and can save me the time.

I fitted a MK4 Ford Mondeo (UK car but I assume there was a US equivalent) to my 1967 2.4 MK2. I had to remake the 'snail' section of the heater. I also fitted a Jaguar X-Type heater matrix and used a Vauxhall Corsa (again UK car) heater resistor and some relays to give me the two speeds. The heater resistor was mounted inside the unit in the airstream to keep it cool.

The fan works really well, the heater doesn't seem to get as hot as I would like but that might be to do with adjustment of the flaps as its now like my 1959 car in that it doesn't have a water valve and just uses the flaps to control temperature.

One thing to check if you go down this route is to make sure that the bigger fan housing will fit with whatever engine you have as mine is a 2.4 and so the engine is a lot lower in relation to the heater.

Other upgrades I did to the car were a dual circuit master cylinder and servo from a Jaguar X300 and a wiper motor from a 1970's/80's mini.

There are a few swaps from other cars as described by Homer. I don't know what they'd be in the US - I guess it would be a case of searching the scrap yards. SNG B and some of the other Jaguar parts suppliers have upgrade kits, but they aren't exactly cheap. The suppliers to custom, kit, special builders have blowers and motors. They also have complete climate systems if you want to swap the lot.

While you're looking at the heater and blower the water valve for the heater is probably blocked or seized solid. They can be dismantled and cleaned out or swapped. The flaps and the matrix in the heater body will also benefit from repair and replacement.

That’s a nice looking final product.
I just got to figure out how to find a small blower fan here in the states!
