Default A/C blower motor Needed

I have a 90 XJ6 Vanden Plas Majestic and the hvac blower fans keep disconnecting from the shafts. Right now my passenger side is making all kinds of noises because it is partially disconnected from the electric motor shaft and obviously not giving full blowing force. I am sure you all know how much of a pain it is to get these out and back in. Small hands are a must. Anyhow I am going to take this out one last time and need a new one to replace it because I do not want to go through the removal and installation of these things ever again. Can someone point me in the right direction of where I can purchase this. Thank you

I have replaced the "squirrel cage" on other heaters with one from a heater supply house- these days the internet. Maybe if you have it out you can measure it up and order a suitable one?

The plastic fan(basket) is 5-3/4 inches in diameter by 2.0 inches high.
You're timing is perfect I have the right side blower on my bench. just replaced the brushes.
I want to rebuild/recondition the harness while it is out, then do the left side blower.
The best solution is to replace the blowers with modern blowers.
My car is a 1990 Majestic

Good luck
Roger

Hi JMajestic,

If you can't find a suitable new motor/fan assembly or replacement fan, one idea is to use J.B. Weld steel-filled epoxy to help secure the squirrel-cage fan to the motor shaft. Clean both parts thoroughly to degrease them and score the motor shaft with coarse sandpaper to help the epoxy to grab.

Another idea is to drill a hole through the fan collet and motor shaft and secure the fan to the shaft with a roll pin. Alternately, you could rivet the fan to the shaft by cutting a soft steel nail about 1/8" longer than the outside diameter of the fan collet. Set the assembly over an anvil or other hard steel surface and carefully peen the ends of the nail to secure the fan to the shaft.

Cheers,

Don
