congrats, and good luck, it's a long road and mucho dinero but hey, life is short, enjoy it.
looks like the valve covers were replaced, unless the engine is a 4.2. (those are 4.2 engine valve covers, they are not original to the MK-2). Better make sure what engine is in there.
If it is a 3.8, and you want a pair of the original aluminum valve covers with the original Jaguar logo aluminum oil filler cap, I have them.

probably an early 4.2 from a 420 or Series 1 XJ. An excellent engine, and a lot more power and reliability than the 3.8 you're going to install, also has an Alternator, a lot better than the 3.8 Generator. Think twice about replacing it.
Hi
I was talking to an 81 year old man today who once owned a blue 1964 Mk2 3.8.
He owned a garage and he bought it and overhauled in the mid-1970's.
He talked about some modifications he made but I am not a Jaguar owner or even very interested in cars so it went over my head.
He told me he built some kind of air horn arrangement behind the radiator grill.
Anyway this car was stolen in 1975 in Manchester and has never been seen by the owner since. He still has the log-book.
I asked him to find a forum like this and post some photo's of his car as someone might know where it is.

A lot of work there, Adam, but no doubt you knew that before you bought the car. I rebuilt a Mark 2 from a bare shell in the 80s so know quite a lot, except being many years ago, my memory may be faded a bit and nheed jogging ! First thing I noticed is there seem to be no closing panels at the back of the front wheel arches.
The car looks to be painted in Opalescent Silver Grey, the same as mine was.

Not necessarily true. The 240 and 340 cars had the fluted cam covers. Many of these were retrofitted with the earlier Mark 2 bumpers as they just bolt on.
