Default Book matching on a Mk2

Are all the veneer panels book matched. I know the top of the dash is but what about the glove box?

if looking at these two pictures alone, i would say no, the door is not book-matched.

the first pic shows evidence that the glovebox door veneer is simply cut from the dash veneer that surrounds it.

pic found here: https://www.maderaconcepts.com/NewSi...rkFullSet.html

and another:

No. An attempt is made to match the left & right of the dash.

To reinforce what Glyn and Huey have written, the book matching is intended to be left-right about the centre plane of the car. The front face of the glove box should match (that is same pattern and continuity of grain) the area of dash face around it.

I have new wood trim for my Mk2. The current wood has been very badly sanded so much so that the form of the parts had actually been altered so a re-veneer was not an option. This is the new dash cap.

I know it’s difficult to see from photos but I am quite pleased.

Now off on holiday for a few weeks in the XK8. I hope she makes it to Provence this time! When I get back
i will strip out all the wood, repair the steering column (horn) and restore my recliners and replace the XJ6 seats. Should keep me busy for a while.
