Default Chassis/Car number Mk 2

On the Jaguar Heritage Trust site it says that the Chassis/Car number on a Mk 2 can be found in 2 places, one next to the bonnet catch and an "ID Plate: RH wing under bonnet". I have been looking for the second one on a car and can't find it anywhere. Does anyone have a foto or a more detailed description where to find it?

Rishi the "ID Plate: RH wing under bonnet" should look like the plate you showed in one of you previous posts. Large alloy square painted black with the Chassis, Engine, Gearbox and Body number details stamped in with letter stamps. As the one you had on the dubious Mk2 was screwed to the bulk head in the position you would normally find it on an S Type I doubt you will find it now on the inner wing.

OK. I though it was a different plate.

I've a suspicion the ID plate was more to help someone working on the car obtain the correct spare parts than to prove the identity.

Possibly Pete but it threw up so many questions as to its original identity. Would never have got away with it in the UK.
