just add a shim to the point where the lock leg contacts the frame to create inwards tension. Spring stainless steel works great.
A good shim to adapt would be the windscreen molding, center joiner clip, found in any Jaguar and on the side trim of XJ-6. It actually does the job elegantly.
I also remember Volkswagen Beetles and MG-B had a similar vent that had a tensioner clip.
