Door hinges
The front door at left side does not fit as well as it should. I think I need to adjust the upper hinge to make the door move about 0,3 cm outward when it is closed. I can't find the way to adjust the hinge. Anyone with a solution for this?
There is no actual adjustment mechanism on the hinge I am afraid only good old shims. I did not need them on my car as the process in the factory was to bend the hinges to fit the available doors and if that did not work try another door. My doors are original but if you fit a secondhand set of doors to your car you might find that there is a lot of bending and fettling to get them to sit right.

On my mates S Type he bought this set of shims from E bay and we fitted them between the door and hinge to get all the shut lines flat and straight. They come in different thicknesses so you gat get the correct fit.

I might be completely wrong here, especially as it's inconsistent with what Cass has written above. I'll apologise in advance in case I'm talking rubbish.
I think it's possible to adjust the front door in and out at the attachment of the hinge to the door. I believe that the hinge bolts go into nuts attached to a plate on the inside of the door. The door is effectively clamped between the hinge and the plate.* When the nuts are loosened, it's possible to move the door a few mm. My suggestion is to mark the present position of the hinge on the door fairly accurately say with some masking tape. Loosen the bolts in the top hinge, move the door the amount you think is required and re-tighten. Don't undo the bolts in the bottom hinge unless you absolutely have to as the doors are heavy, the whole door will go of position, and it will be a pain to get right.
*a similar arrangement to the attachment of the door lock striker plates on the door posts.

I agree Pete there is a little leeway but not a great deal but that will only adjust up or down. To get the door flush with the front wings or in the case of the back door the "B" pillar shims are needed.
Rob, I agree for the back door, it's definitely shims as the hinge attaches on the inside face of the door. However, on the front door, the hinge is bolted to the surface facing the pillar.
As my LH front door has some of the same problem (probably due to a previous restorer's work on the LH front wing), this afternoon I've loosened the set screws on the top hinge and I can move the door in and out so it aligns better with the wing. The hard part may be keeping the ***** in the right position when the door's open to tighten the screws. But, for now and some way into the future, I've got more pressing things to worry about on the car.

Pete and Rob. Thank you for your replay. The problem is to fit the frontdoor with the wing. I do not think the shims will help, shims will adjust the door to the left / right and not inn /out. I will loosen the screws at the top hinge and try to adjust the door and hope this will work out. I will be busy the next couple of weeks, but I will post an updated as soon as I have tried to adjust the door.
I tried out things some more with my front door and I could make the door fit nicely by jiggling the door sideways on the hinge to pull it out and adding a shim to push it back towards the B-post. I'd avoid shims that require removing the setscrews; something that can be slid in from above would be much simpler. I've not done more as somewhere in my store I have either a new door or door skin (I think).
