Default Fitting water deflectors on mk2 wirte wheel hubs

Hello all,

got around to reassembling the front hubs of my mk2 with wire wheels. When I took it apart it had no water deflectors, so I ordered some - when I try and assemble them as per the cross section drawing in the workshop manual they don't appear to fit on either the hub or the stub axle carrier.

I've attached some photos - can anyone tell me whether I just need to 'pursuade' them, whether I've got the orientation wrong, or whether it's just that my car doesn't require them?

Any thoughts, or photos of others' installations would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,

B

Hi,

Here are some shots of the uprights I have off my car ATM, with the deflectors fitted by the factory.

Last pic has deflector removed.

Your deflectors seem different.

Hope it helps anyway.

Hi Red,

My photo is of the hub, and yours of the upright/axle carrier - hence the different part shapes. I managed to get the deflector on the hub with some gentle taps of a rubber mallet - but I'm still struggling with the part on the upright. The OD of the carrier at that point is 52mm and the ID of the deflector is 50mm so its never going to fit! Can only assume I've got the wrong bit :-(

It seems there's two part numbers that may apply, depending upon chassis number. Here's the info on the SNG Barratt site.

Thanks for the info - I think as the former wasn't available on the internet I overlooked it, and ordered the wrong part. I've enquired with SNG about availability of the other bit.

cheers,

B

No luck so far - SNG don't stock the other part, and a couple of other places only stock parts that are too small. Starting to wonder if I've got non-spec uprights!

Current fitted with hub side part only due to lack of time - at least their easy to fit later!
