Hey all,
I'm trying to figure out where the hazard light (aka 4-way flasher) switch/panel mounts. I have searched my collection of books but they are all UK published and do show the switch location. Did non-US bound cars even have the hazard lights?
I know it mounts under the dash somewhere but it is not obvious, at least with the level of assembly on my interior. I'm guessing far left side of the dash based on the wire lengths. The wiring junctions for the turn signals and lights are in that general location. Or is there a separate sub-harness that runs elsewhere?
This is for my 1966 Mk2, LHD, US-spec car.
Thanks
Craig
My 340 has it to the right of the main switch control panel.
Left hand drive car has it located on the passenger side. Like this for mine.
Here is a photo from my 1966 Mk 2 (build date: January 04, 1966) showing the original placement of the "Hazard" switch to the left of the steering wheel, LHD- another example of factory variations?
Thank you all. I went back into some of my books that cover production changes and two indicate that the system was added in September of 1965 "for all export models". No indication of a move from the left side (which I would assume would be the bulk of export models) to the right side for the 240/340 range.
From the changes with dates and car numbers, it looks like mine was built in early 67.
my '67 U.S.California 340 3.4l manual mk2 has it mounted under the dash to the RIGHT of center and LEFT of glovebox. like that shown in post #4. i have no reason to believe it has been moved from its original factory installed location.
both locations make it appear to be an afterthought. although i suspect it was a federally mandated import requirement and was dealt with as economically as possible.
truth is that when i first noticed it, i assumed it was added on by a previous owner that valued safety above all else. ha
