Default Help needed - MK2 guys

I am seriously considering adding a center bonnet molding setup to replace the std leaper on my 05 S-Type. I thought the MK2 would be a good source for parts. I have a couple questions you gents might be of some help answering...

1. What are the lengths of the chrome molding in front of and behind the leaper on your cars?
2. Do you have a good aftermarket source for these parts?

Thanks!

Hi Bad,
Measurements taken from Danger with a steel ruler, In front of leaper 3-7/16" and from leaper to back edge of hood 38-1/4". The base of the leaper is 2-1/16" x about 3/4" and from fang to tail tip he is 7-1/2". Hope thats too much info.
XKs Unlimited? they seem to have quite the involved parts breakdowns anyway.....
Good luck

What is the difference between the 5" & 7" Leapers?

I don't know what the difference is, I suspect model divisions, as Danger is an S- type, and that my xj40 has the smaller. I met a fellow with a 94 xj12 that had the larger leaper. That's my guess. Please correct if I'm wrong.

Ok thank you. I assume the bases are the same then? I am also hoping the molding is able to follow the slight curve of my hood. Are yours fairly straight & level?

ok, heres my attempt at posting pics in a reply. wish me luck! The green is the 7" S-type leaper, it has a square base under the rear feet. I point out that although i dont see any evidence of it being changed, I did just get this car and cannot 100% promise that it is right for the car. The white is the xj40. It too has a rectangular base which seems to be about the same length but may be narrower.

7" leaper has a different base therefore it may not become just an easy swap , insert &go
My best recommendation for you to have X300's leaper with spring attached
That leaper on the white XJ40's is mainly made for Series III and looks kinda small
