looks like a 2.4 Saloon made from 1955 to 1958, also known as a MK-1 but that is not a factory designation.

the giveaway is in the door window frames and the rear wheel "spats" (fender skirts).

Couldn't say year , beyond approximately 1960. Looks like a Mk I to me.

It's a "Mark 1" except Jaguar never called it that. It started out with the 2.4 litre engine, then when the Americans wanted more power, the 3.4 was installed. Unfortunately the power of the 3.4 was too much for the suspension and brakes, so the Mark 2 was developed to improve matters.

So the car could be a 2.4 or 3.4. Only way to tell is to look under the bonnet. The 2.4 has a short block with Solex downdraft carburettors, the 3.4 has the traditional SU carbs.

Edit
Sorry, not totally correct ! The 3.4 had the cutaway spats like the Mark 2. So the car in this thread is likely to be a 2.4. Disc brakes were made available in 1958, only a year before the Mark 2 was announced

Photo looks as if car is an abandoned restoration project. It took me severn years to rebuild a Mark 2 in the 80s, and I was young. Many people start after they retire and die before the car can be completed.
