Lower steering column
Mk2 1968 240
Took the lower steering column off to replace split rubber gaitor. Knocked the small bar out that the nylon bearings are on but noticed that it was damaged at the ends. The small groove that the retaining spring sits in was damaged and partly missing. What's this part called and where can i get one from?
Thanks in advance.

Sounds like Charlie Allthumbs got there before you ! Not unusual with old cars. The circlip looks broken, as I'm sure it should be almost a full circle. These parts are shown on the SNG Barratt website but the circlips as NLA, although the nylon rollers are there but special order only. Thing is, when its all assembled, the nylon rollers are in their tracks and cannot escape, the circlips seem to be there just to assemble the column

Hi Fraser. Charlie Allthumbs. Made me laugh! I was wondering about the usefulness of these clips. As you rightly say, these nylon rollers have nowhere to go. The little circular spring clips, I’m not sure they are actually broken as the good side works a treat and I had to be careful not to ping it across the workshop. The nylon rollers look in good shape and if I can get some easy enough I’ll change them while I’m at it. Might take a gamble on the clips unless I can find any further information advising me differently.
