I am trying to reinstall my a steering column in my 1995XJ6. How in the world do you get the spline at the end of the column into the collar at the floorboard? It came out so easy. It does not seem to want to go back.

Just for future reference, if you use a screwdriver to spread the collar a bit it will receive the tip end of the column and the the splines. Then if you go under the car and tap with some kind of a non marring blunt object you can get the collar to slide up over the end of the steering column. You must mount the column firmly to the car the forward and aft mounts so that it is stationary as the collar slides onto the splines. This worked for me and I was able to drop the securing screw into place.

If anyone has any other methods I would be glad to know them too.
