Default MK 2 2.4 Auto 3 speed to 4 conversion help

Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has tried a 4 speed auto upgrade on a MK2

I have a 4 HP-22 auto gearbox that I want to put into my 2.4 MK2
On initial inspection the differences are the gearbox mount is offset on the HP-22 box and has and electronic speedo, there is also approx 1/2 inch difference in length.
I will be using my original bell housing and making a 10mm plate to make the differences.
Just wondering if anybody has done this before and have any tips I can use for the conversion.
Thanks

two businesses that might help:

1) John's Cars in Texas.

2) G.Whitehouse in the UK.
www gwautos.com

both do classic car transmission conversions.

Thanks for the reply Jose,

I am actually looking to do the conversion myself, outsourcing would cost in the region of 5K, where as I picked up a gearbox for 300.

hello,

I did the quaterbreed conversion form John's Cars.
Did the conversion myself.Very happy with it.
Kit is complete, you only have to find a good GM T700, and shorten the propshaft.

The hard way is to use the HP-22 gearbox.
You need to make your own flexplate and adaptor for the torqconverter/and gearbox,
And a new driveshaft, and some way to get the speedo working again.

Regards,
Peter Jan
