I just bought a small collection of Jaguar parts off Craigslist. The selling point was a rear bumper, a couple of rough grills and a lot of glass that I thought might be useful for my Mk2 obsession.
I'm hoping to get some input from the Mk1 experts on the bumpers. The purchase rear bumper is nearly identical to my Mk2 bumper but there is no slot for the disk brake tag. Do all Mk2 bumpers have the disk brake tag? The purchased bumper is also about 2 inches narrower at 58 inches as compared to the 60 inches for my Mk2 bumper, implying that the car it came from was slightly narrower. It seems fairly straight so I doubt that it has been bent enough to be that much narrower. The side mounting brackets are also different in that the distance from the side bracket to the end of the bumper is 3 inches for the Mk2 and 3-1/2 inches for the purchased bumper. The purchased bumper also seems to wrap around each side of the car a littler further, maybe 2 inches.
Above is the purchased bumper width.

Above is the Mk2 bracket to end measurement.
Otherwise they seem identical. Do I have a Mk1 bumper?
Thanks in advance for any input.
According to the many scribes the Mk1 had a narrower tail than the Mk2 & thus a narrower bumper. All Mk2s are supposed to carry the Disc Brakes badge P/N BD17737. It sounds as if you have a correct Mk1 bumper.
