Default Mk2 Daimler Boot Rubber

Can anyone help with a problem I have given myself. I renewed the boot rubber on my 68 Daimler V8 250 with one purchased from Manners. Everything went quite well, the new rubber sat neatly in the channel now the lid won't catch, the new rubber must be holding it up. Any suggestions from you more experienced restorers on how to get it to close would be appreciated.

How does the boot look when it's closed ? If it is sitting nicely and the gaps are good, adjust the catch so that it will catch, if the boot is sitting proud of the body, then the seals arent' a good fit, either not in fully or just too big.

Thanks Tilley John
The rubbers are the David Manners recommended ones not the alternative offered. When compared to the old ones they looked very much the same. The gap all round with the lid down seems to be quite even but it is certainly are a shade proud. Looked at putting washers to space out the catch but ti looks like that had already been done when the car had a full body re-spray many years ago.

Have you got it round the right way ? As I recall the lip should fall towards the outside of the aperture. However it's a long time ago when I rebuilt my Mark 2 in the 80s
