Yes it looks like they came from a late jag mk2. With trim covered mechanism and larger cut out for rear pasenger feet. They'll look good when refurbished

thanks! they look very close to the S type seats, but are different. Obviously made by the same manufacturer, the reclining lever/handle is identical, except in the S type, the black plastic lever-handle end is mounted towards the rear. The velour "cover" at the bottom rear and edges of the seat is identical. The pleats look identical.

here's a good picture of the S type (and 420) seats I found online, the arm rests can be seen in the lowered position.

When I rebuilt my Mark 2 all those years ago, (in the 80s), I managed to get a set of leather seats, but no recline to replace my Ambla-covered ones.

Fortunately, a Mark 2 in a very advanced state of decay was found near the garage I had the car, and this had the reclines, (although the seat leather was totalled). I managed to remove the recliner mechanism and handle, and fit to my seats. As my car was a 1967, I found the non-recline was built so a recline mechanism could be retrofitted.

Looking at the pics of the recliners, they look identical to those I had, with the handle in the same position. The S type seats had a different fixing to the floor of the car, so don't fit without some mods.

No, it's never easy. My rebuild took 7 years !! During that time a mouse took up residence and chewed a hole through my new headlining.

there are 2 types of reclining seat offered as an 'option' on the Mk2 jaguar.. the early 'reutter' seats..they have a big chromed bezel that covers outer edge of seats, same style as those used in 365 porsche.... the later ones (beige ones as illustrated in post above) have a more discreet appearance and could be supplied as a 'conversion kit' to add the option to cars not fitted with recliners..the seat base frame is modified so as to allow the adjuster lever to fit and leather trim cut back to fit the modified base....all else bolts in.
BTW:- seats for S type/420 are very different .. as are those of the daimler version ( which had seats pattered on those supplied as 'standard' in the Mk1 jag.. (bench type, rather than optional more sporty 'bucket' seats)

Speaking of seats since this thread has been resurrected, is there a source for a deep sport seat like on some of the Combs sedans?

My 1967 Mk 2 has reclining seats as shown below. It looks like they were Jaguar original equipment, but not on my car. They are 7 pleat and have been recovered in vinyl.
According to Reutter Reclining Seats for Jaguar | Jaguar XK 140 FHC Part & Assembly Information, these seats are not Reutter but a Jaguar made version.

Pictures posted for general enlightenment.

reply to BSM :- the seats shown are in fact 'reutter reclining seats' that were offered as an option up to the '63 model year. They may well have been produced by the seat supplier for jaguar cars ltd or 'in house' by the jaguar company itself, but likely a 'royalty' was paid to Reutter, as it was their design employed. Post '64 the design changed and was offered as a 'kit' that could be fitted retroactively . the kit consists of 2 sliding mechanisms that replace the solid bolt in bars that hold seat back in place,(there is some adjustment as regards amount of recline on fixed back seats) a split 'connecting bar' between the 2 sliders, plus a chromed lever with a black handle that is similar material to the old 'bakelite'. with bezel, spring and washer to keep the bezel in place against the handle. The seat base frame is also modified to fit around the shaft that the lever is attached to and the leather is cut back and glued to modified frame to fit around the lever and its shaft behind the finishing bezel. The reutter style seats seem to have a greater re-sale value than the later jaguar ones, which are far more 'discreet' in appearance..the only obvious 'tell tale' being the chromed lever.

The seat manufacturer was Jaguar! All done in the factory at Browns Lane, Coventry. The days of outsourcing to Lear for seats was a very long way off. And yes both the non-recline and reclining seat bottoms (Reutter provided the early mechanism but the upholstery was done by Jaguar) for the Mk 2 are the same (and, as has been said, very different from those in the S and the 420).

this is an old thread, but responding to reply sent today :- the seats shown in Jose's image are stock jaguar factory S type recliners.. the handles for recline mechanism are fitted backwards in Jose's images.. the reuter style with chromed side pieces ( as per '62 factory brochure) were phased out by '64 I believe.(confirming the image of '67 Mk2 seats are NOT original to that car) . both Stype and post '63 MK 2 had the later style, more discreet reclining mechanism ( when fitted as an optional extra) and used the self same seat frames as stock non recliners..a 'conversion kit' was available to make non recliners into recliners.. the seat base frame had to be modified in order to fit around the recliner handle assy, its bezel and shaft. I believe the same recliner kit fits both Mk2 and S type/420...

This is the correct recliner lever orientation for standard S Type seat. Later models had chrome escutcheon under lever.

A few cars were fitted with this mechanism.
