Default MKII Rubber Steering Coupler

I'm in the process of rebuilding the lower steering column on my 1960 MKII and when I attempted to install the new rubber coupling I discovered the hole pattern is wider on the new coupler compared with the old coupler. The new unit spacing is 2 1/8" center to center and the old unit spacing is about 1 15/16", just enough of a difference that I can't use the new one. I can't find any source that supplies the size I need. Has anyone else had this problem or have recommendations for the correct replacement? When I removed the old coupler, it literally crumbled to pieces. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Ted

I've checked the parts catalogue and that is the correct part number for LHD and RHD models, I will check the dimensions of mine tomorrow and get back to you

Later steering columns didn't use this coupler and had a totally different arrangement that is probably more robust. You could try finding one of these. The SNG Barratt website shows the two types. They list the rubber-type coupling as well at a reasonable price.

You'll see that the upper column is the same throughout, only the lower column and coupling was changed. I had the later type on my 1967 Mark 2, and it could be the same as on the S-type and the 420, but not the 420G
